Healing through Music & Songwriting
“where words fail, music speaks” – Hans Christian Andersen
Music: the universal language
This workshop will facilitate our own awareness of the healing benefits and power of music, and will create space to not only practice but learn how to intentionally incorporate music & songwriting into our tools for mental health.
During the workshop we will look at why music is a means of healing and how we can use it to facilitate our own growth. We will also learn about the categories of music therapy and how we can practice them to promote health. And finally how to use music in our daily routines to foster good mental health.
When:
Saturday, Nov. 23
9:30am-12pm
Cost: $50
Anissa Haney
Anissa Haney, our music healing practitioner, comes to us with a blend of crisis counseling, cross-cultural ministry and music as a healing agent. Anissa is a published songwriter, musician and recording artist herself and has seen first-hand the healing effects of music in her own life. Her workshop will facilitate our own awareness of the healing benefits and power of music, and will create space to not only practice but learn how to intentionally incorporate music & songwriting into our tools for mental health. Our oasis room offerings would not be complete without music healing and Anissa’s compassionate, authentic approach.
