Dance and Movement

Dance and movement have been proven to help your mental health by reducing anxiety, lowering stress, building self-esteem, and improving your mood. Dance has also been linked to sharper memory and decreased depression.
At Evans Counseling Services, we offer one-on-one dance and movement experiences along with occasional groups and classes to help support your whole self — mind, body and spirit.
Types of Dance & Movement Experiences

Expressions of the Soul
This experience helps you uncover and release hidden or stuck emotions, trauma, and physical tension that may be causing fatigue or holding you back. You’ll learn how your nervous system influences your movement and how movement influences your nervous system, as well as how unregulated stress shows up in your daily life. Through a blend of breathing exercises, music, and rhythmic movement, you’ll gain practical tools to regulate your system and restore your natural flow.
Dance experience is not required – just a desire to show up and move!

Couples Ballroom

couples counseling by helping partners practice
connection through guided ballroom dance in a
structured, supportive environment.

– Seeking to strengthen communication and connection
– Rebuilding intimacy after periods of disconnection
– Recovering from betrayal trauma
– Navigating recovery from pornography or sexual addiction
– Married and long-term committed couples
– Couples already participating in counseling who want experiential support outside of sessions to aid in the healing process.

Theater Speak
Are you having a hard time finding your voice? Sometimes we just can’t put into words what we are feeling. Sometimes we can’t express ourselves because of fear – fear of discovery, exposure, or other’s thoughts, feelings, or actions towards us. Sometimes we can’t even describe a feeling or identify it. We just feel it and don’t know what to do about it.
Learning about ourselves, our feelings, our blocked or stuck emotions can free us in so many ways! It’s been scientifically proven that the arts promote healing, self-expression, and personal growth.
Theater Speak seeks to:
– give voice to and embody your emotions
– assist you to engage rhythmically
– take on and embody different roles
